The main reason for individuals to start a diet is to lose weight. Some do it for other health reasons, but for most its to watch the numbers go down on that scale, right?
By following the meal plans provided to you in this challenge you are guaranteed to lose weight. How much weight depends on the individual, on how strictly you follow the meal plans and how active your life style is.

Protein & healthy fats promote satiety. Unlike other diets you won't end a meal feeling deprived, you will end a meal feeling satisfied.
Eliminating all forms of sugar from your diet reduces "sweet tooth" cravings entirely. The less you have the less you want!

Inflammation in the body is caused by damage to the single cell layer surrounding our intestines due to external factors, mainly our diet.
When you injure yourself and the wound gets inflamed, this is the role of our immune systems rushing to help that area to fight off, or protect against, bad bacteria and viruses from getting in. This is exactly what happens when you eat the wrong types of foods or foods that your body is sensitive to. They begin to irritate the gut lining and the action of repair & protect is constantly being repeated—3 meals a day, 365 days a year.
This can affect the body in many ways and can lead to autoimmune diseases, allergies, heart problems, gut issues (like IBS), to name a few.
Inflammatory trigger foods include gluten, dairy & sugar. By removing these foods that irritate your system and restoring it with foods that promote your health, the Paleo diet can contribute to a healthier gut and ultimately a healthier you!

This diet is high in protein which makes you full for longer, so one of the reasons calorie counting is not necessary is because it is very difficult to over eat. The other reason is because the meal plans you will follow encourages eating whole, natural, unprocessed foods - all of which are good for you.
You will have portion control guidelines when it comes to foods like fruit because even though fruit is nutrient dense, it contains fructose which spikes insulin levels and thus your sugar and/or hunger cravings. This can have a drastic effect on weight loss if consumed too frequently or in large amounts.

You will be eating foods that fuel your body, rather than those that give you a short boost of energy and a crash of exhaustion afterward.
Natural foods (ie non-processed foods) are slowly metabolized by our bodies making these energy sources burn slower and last longer, which gives you more energy throughout the day.
When you begin the challenge the opposite of this may happen and you will probably feel more exhausted than ever! This is known as the 'transition period' and can last up to two weeks - PUSH THROUGH!! The reason this is happening is due to the sudden decrease in processed carbohydrates & sugar, cutting back on caffeine and the general exhausting process your body is going through by switching diets. After you have gone through the transition period you will not only have MORE energy but you will feel the difference in the healthy energy you are now experiencing, as opposed to spending your day on a roller-coaster of sugar highs & lows!

A nutrient filled, healthy diet will help balance your hormones which results in better sleep. The pros of having a more restful night include: improved memory, reduced inflammation, curbed appetite (by controlling your metabolism), lower stress.... the list is endless.
It also helps to eat your last meal of the day a few hours before bed time.
During the day your body uses the calories you eat for fuel, and the rest gets stored in the liver in the form of glycogen. At night, your body converts that glycogen into glucose and releases it into your bloodstream to keep your blood-sugar levels steady while you sleep. Once the stored glycogen is gone, your liver starts burning fat cells for energy - which basically means that you burn fat whilst you sleep! If you end up eating late at night your body will get it's energy from the food rather than fromburning fat cells.
So even on a nutrient dense healthy diet, it is still very important to eat the last meal of the day at least 2 hours before bed time.
